I could have caught the movie much earlier last year, but I chose the Gurren Lagann movie over this. It’s not like I’m regretting my choice though, since both movies have their own strengths.

甘い甘い甘い甘い~ 恋人~!
Without a doubt, the DMC movie is entertaining. Needless to say, anyone who has been reading the manga, or watching the OVAs would be cackling away throughout the duration of this film. Even for those who have yet to be introduced to DMC through other mediums, the movie would still prove to be great humour material.
For this post, I shall not touch on the plot since I’m assuming that anyone who’s reading this would have seen DMC before the movie in some form or another. If you’ve yet to do so, go watch the OVA and/or read the manga. They are really mind-blowing, LOL awesome.
For the live action movie, I’ve got 2 reasons to praise it for; Character Portrayal and the faithfulness of the movie to the original work.
For the characters, I would say that the live action characters connected really well with their 2D counterparts. Remember how I was praising the 20th Century Live Action Movie for the awesome cast that totally resembled the characters in the manga? Those praises then could be applied towards the DMC movie too. It shouldn’t be too hard to get actors to dress up as a killer demon from hell screaming the common few vocabulary, “Satsugai”, “Rape” and “Fuck”, or even an insane abusive female manager who throws homing cigarette butts. Still, a job well done has to be credited. From this day on, Matsuyama Kenichi will be remembered not as L, but rather, Negishi/Krauser II.

Skirt flipping: Exactly what Krauser-san would do
The movie scored by closely following the manga/OVA despite it being a sub-2 hour compressed adaptation. Somehow, there’s this little voice inside of me that always condemns live action adaptations that thread a little of the original’s path. This little voice didn’t squeak for even a little for DMC. On the other hand, this voice became really rowdy while I watched the Death Note live action films.

Amusingly, Krauser-san’s “Fuck” chant sounds like “Bark”
While a couple of scenes were left out, or even combined some of them in order to fit the movie within 2 hours, there was still much to enjoy about the movie. DMC fans would find familiarity in majority of the movie, and that speaks volumes of its’ loyalty. The only pity was that some of the fun stuff that I was looking forward to was left out. It would have been cool if scenes such as the air guitar performance in Tower Records, the police assaults, the tambourine screwing, and of course, the unforgettable Tokyo Tower screwing were present.
My only gripe was the ending of the movie. It was sudden, with yet another skirt flipping.

The image that ended the film
One moment, I was laughing at the skirt flip, and the next, I was going “What the heck? It ended?” when the credits started rolling. I’m guessing that there will be a sequel production as there’s lots of material for a second film. I don’t mind the filmmakers milking this one further. In fact, I approve!
I’m going to catch this in local cinemas when it gets released on 19th March. Usually, I wouldn’t be bothered with slowpokes, but the fact that flicks I enjoy are worth a movie ticket stands firm.
Oh, and remember to stay behind after the credits for a glimpse of the Death Penis Haircut. You can’t say that you’ve watched DMC unless you’ve seen that!

HELL YEA!!!

NO TOKYO TOWER RAPING? NO POLICE RAPING?
Wow… my desire to watch the movie just plummeted.
I have it on my computer, ready to go. Think I’ll watch it with my non-animu friends (which is nearly all of my friends =P)
Where can i download it or find it
i search it everywhere to watch the movie

may be the director of this movie, does not love or understand death metal song enough !
this movie must more crazy than it be.
Not just a beatiful dream but must be crazy dream and out of this world.
by the way, i donot like the Nakichi charactor, that Kenichi Matsuyama play .
at L , he did a very good charactor (combine L, Melon and Near charactor together), but for this Nakichi , it is over tussy and over joking sometime. (by manga Nakichi is just reticent)
but for the other who never read this manga , must like this movie.
for me, hope to see DMC movie part 2 , cause i am divine of DMC too !
