A long time ago, I remember reading a top 10 list about why geeks, otakus included, are good boyfriends. Loyalty was one of factors mentioned. I used to believe that it could truly be applied to majority of the otaku crowd, but all it took was just a single episode to change that, totally.
While I don’t exactly have a liking for any of the K-ON! girls, it’s funny to see Mio dumped aside by her fanboys who swore the moon and the stars for her, merely after a brand new 23 minutes of airtime. Sorry Mio, you just lost out to a Minami Kana copy and paste character.
Azusa and Kana look 99.872% similar, agree?

Yeah I posted the list on my blog, but it was actually from the Best of Craig’s List section. Anyway, otaku are retarded but the episodes have been written to totally undermine Mio’s popularity. If you’ve noticed, since episode 4-5 onwards, Mio has been a cardboard character who can do little more than moe in a corner thanks to her “phobias”.
I noticed that too, that everyone jumped ship the moment everyone saw Azu-nyan….
However, I am one of the few that actually stays firm on my likes- Mio is my favorite, and probably will be for a while…
In the case of K-ON!, which is simply a showcase of “retarded” girls achieving awesome results, it’s no surprise everyone would go for the new, cute, non-retarded member of the club.
For me, I never really jumped ship since I was “neither here nor there”, but I do like posting about the “pure moments of awesomeness” in K-ON!, and am now waiting for the next one, if KyoAni doesn’t screw it up and diverge away from the manga.
Like tj han said above, Mio has become a redundant character. I find that she’s even more of a Kagami-wannabe as of the more recent episodes.
I was never a Mio-fan to start with so I find it funny that my post is linked up there.

As someone who hates both Mio and Azusa with equal amounts of loathing, it’s rather entertaining watching one redundant moeblob discarded for another of equal worthlessness XD

but for me, Mio > Mugi > Azusa…though for some reason the appearance of Azusa made both Mio and Azusa drop in my view…

I kind of like all the K-on girls in the show. maybe I havent picked my favorite, but Mio is the favorite for a lot of people.
