Finally, after months of waiting for I’m not sure exactly what, I got myself an electric guitar. A real Fender Stratocaster would have been a dream come true, but no, poor noobs like me should stick to copies like Squier.

For the past 6 months or so, I’ve been practicing only on an acoustic guitar. That practice has definitely paid off a little. For starters, I can hold down barre chords easily on the electric guitar after daily sessions of painful barring on the acoustic.
Playing on the electric guitar is more fun than playing on the acoustic as you can factor in effects such as distortion. Currently, that’s the only effect I can play around with as I’ve yet to get a pedal. I should be getting one soon though, together with an adapter for connecting my amp and headphones. My parents have been complaining about the volume I’ve been playing at, although I doubt it’s the volume but my standard.
For now, I’ve got to learn how to palm mute properly, as well as use the pick instead of my fingers. Also, I’ve got to learn how to mute some strings when playing power chords. I’ve yet to fully learn any songs, and I’m still struggling to keep up with the speed of おしゃかしゃま’s intro, as well as learning how to fully play 3月9日.
There isn’t exactly anyone whom I know that plays the guitar and appreciates the same type of music. I need to go brainwash more people with videos like this.
I’d like to see Mio play the bass solo parts
Since this entry’s about guitars, I can’t help but bring up an amusing related point. Many people who watch K-ON! initially assumed that I began learning the guitar because of the anime. I can’t help but laugh deep down within, stating that I began the guitar in January, long before any of this moe guitar nonsensical craze was unleashed. Imagine if I started slightly later in March or April…
Anyway, K-ON!’s final episode will air in a couple of days. Let’s see how many who fell under it’s influence remain standing with their instruments.

That’s a pretty awesome song. May have to check out this band.
I truly admire your perseverance! Keep playing~
Radwimps is rad.
@theafroguy: You NEED to check out radwimps - might and may is not an option here!
can we hear u perform sooner or later? =D
More like later than sooner.
There’s only 1 complete song that I can play while singing, and the strumming techniques for that song aren’t at all impressive.
And so double continues his journey to convert people into his cause.
What cause?
Have fun with your shiny new guitar.
Exactly! Sojourner, I have no idea what you’re speaking of!
I’d rather see Mio play this
I tot you’d be waiting for the swee lee sale XD. Did this cost an arm or leg?
Swee Lee sale began already, but they don’t stock Squier. Only Fender guitars, which cost an arm, kidney and both my legs.
I paid around 500 for everything, including amp and the other stuff like strap and guitar stand.
500 is quite reasonable for the full set
Nice strat!
possibly you would not notice the difference in sound with a real fender at this stage of learning.
In a couple of years you will outgrow the instrument and buy a nicer(expensiver) one ahahhaa
I have a squier tele (japanese silver bullet series) and I love it, I got it cheap (200 usd used) but the electronics need replacement…
In a recent trip to the USA bought a nice Gibson SG special faded (USA made) for 699 usd.
Its a crime the prices they have over there… in my coutry it would have cost me double at least.. T_T
If you’re willing to bear a good few scars left after a number of crazy live performances, I don’t mind selling off my sunbrust Fender Strat to you at a discounted price. But I guess you already got your copycat, so meh.
toshiro > That Gibson’s price sure is cheap compared to the shops we have here.
AK > LOL copycat sounds nasty, but what to do? Also, why are you selling your Fender Strat?
That’s A nice looking squier there, looks like the same model as the one I started on, except mine was blue with a rosewood finger board. Good luck and have fun playing guitar
