The Last Episode Of K-ON! Is Like Crappyake Girls

Episode 12 may not really be the last episode since there’s some extra episode coming up next week, but who cares? I doubt the girls are going to play any music in that episode anyway. They’ll probably be munching on some of Mugi’s snacks and sipping tea, like always.

Sheesh ya’ll, shut up and start playing already!

Since K-ON! will be coming to an end sooner or later, let’s go through the songs that have lasted us through the 12 episodes. I hope I’ve not left anything out.

The Good: Not any I can think of

The Decent: Don’t Say Lazy, Watashi no Koi ha Hocchikisu

Don’t Say Lazy sounded pretty decent on the first few listens, but it got boring really soon, and I began skipping the ED section after episode 6. The band only performed Watashi no Koi ha Hocchikisu merely once, if I remember correctly. The intro for that song’s pretty good, and in fact, I can say it’s the best song in the series. But still, it’s neither impressive nor mind-blowing.

The Horrible: Cagayake Girls, Fuwa Fuwa Time

Cagayake Girls is horrible noise, so I skipped it ever since the first episode. Fuwa Fuwa Time is slightly better than Cagayake Girls, which is the worst song in the series, by an inch. In the final episode, the band should have played the stapler song instead of Fuwa Fuwa. Then, this post’s title would read, The Last Episode Of K-ON! Is Decent.

Crappyake! girls

I’m not going to mention the character singles since I can’t be bothered to listen to them. It’s not like any of the singers actually played a part in the song’s production besides the vocals.

How the singles such as Cagayake Girls and Don’t Say Lazy can actually beat artistes such as Yuzu in terms of Oricon ranking is quite a mystery. Oh wait, I recall now. It must be those maniacal purchasing sprees that sprung the K-ON! song singles to the top of the charts!

You might be thinking, what’s wrong with this guy? Why is he dissing my favourite anime that has the most awesome music ever? Well, let’s just say that I hate it when real quality goes unnoticed, and thus, unappreciated when it gets overshadowed by stuff that is inferior but somehow more popular. That should explain why I’m always digging around looking for good music that few, or almost no one ever pays attention to.

I’m glad that it’s almost over now, with an extra episode left and maybe a few more character singles that I don’t give a damn about.

Edit: I’ve been ask why I waste my time watching K-ON! if I don’t like it. The answer is, I’m not wasting time. I practice barre chords while I watch.

    Yea K-ON sucks.

Fuwa Fuwa Time is one of those songs that gets more annoying and crappy after each listen. In fact, a lot of their music is like that.

God I’m glad this show is over.

lol…. totally agreee with ur view. i watched the last episode and went ” WTH am i watching???? shitty animu” k-on disappointed me lots. This shows that kyoani can only do KEY anime… and moe shit anime too

  3. 3 tj han

It’s not that bad a show, but it is a testament to how Kyoani has far fallen since Yamakan left/got sacked, that they now make contentless moefests.

  4. 4 voodoomage

Just because the songs don’t suit you , doesn’t mean there are not a lot of us out there that do love it. Yui singing Fuwafuwa is my favorite. Your opinions are respected but not the only one.

Upon further introspection, K-On is not a bad anime per se. Sure, it fails music wise and pacing wise. But when you’ve gone through the manga, youll appreciate how well KyoAni adapted it by adding new storylines that expand the characters relationship with each other. (The manga was simply bland)

In summary, don’t watch K-On for the music/ realism. Instead, just go with the flow and enjoy as the characters take you on a light and fluffy journey.

Do I sense creeping elitism? Heh. There’s a thing called indie which sets us apart from the bleeting masses. ;)

And yet you still have to realize, fans of K-ON! are still considered indie when compared to the masses of anime fans that only know and love mainstream, shounen shows.

So double, are you hating on the music or hating on the show? I find the show fairly funny, and I do go crazy for the characters. The music isn’t by any means good, but I still find it enjoyable. K-ON! isn’t some show that’s trying to be pretentious and pretend to know everything about music.

Because of K-ON!, instrument sales in Japan rose recently. Shouldn’t you be kinda happy that more people are picking up instruments?

“So double, are you hating on the music or hating on the show?”

More like hating on the show because of lack of music or lack of music “quality”, from what I see. The show wasn’t about the music in the first place though. :/

  8. 8 double

TheBigN has answered your question. Also, I don’t find the show funny. Really, I don’t recall myself laughing at all through the 12 episodes, but more of like going ‘WTF?!’

YOU GOTTA LIGHTEN UP AND BREATHE IN THE MOE

I’ve just seen the last(#12) spisode. For me I really enjyoed K-ON.

I’d like to make a simple question for you. “Setting the songs side, Could you really enjoy K-ON anime ??”

I think, to understand K-ON, the knowledge of Japanese school culture is essentilal to viewers. a viewer, who lacks these knowledge, can never enjoy K-ON, I feel.

For example, I LOLed at hearing music “Tsubasa wo kudasai”(which was performed by bass, and drums only) in episonde #1.

I’d like to write whole my impressions to my EN-blog(don777-ax), including this #1 spisode.

  11. 11 double

I watch K-ON! for all the wrong reasons. If you leave out the songs, I doubt I’ll even be watching this, but Japanese drama with plots set in high school instead.

  12. 12 sentinel011

The show is all about laughing at girls and their retarded actions. It’s like watching a sitcom and expect a suspense-mystery plot.

Guess moe girls ain’t your thing. The show is enjoyable if you don’t take the ‘light music club’ thing too seriously. Treat it as you would for ichigo mashimaro.

  13. 13 The Sojourner

Hey. Don’t insult Crappyake Girls. One of my co-writers is married to one of them.

  14. 14 Volbla

The fuck? Fuwa fuwa time is the worst song =|

At least the part you hear most often with just one note four times and then two lower notes. It’s like one of those easy songs anyone can play on the piano with one finger.

  15. 15 anon

it can be shitty anime but everybody here watched it =)
and nobody obliged you to see it fucking morons

  16. 16 anon

K-on sucks. i dun really like the songs in it and i find it quite a waste of time to watch this.

  17. 17 Jim Blake

Anyone who doesn’t like K-ON! has no soul and deserves to rot in the burning depths of hell for all eternity.

  18. 18 neverendingfool

oh please , if you cant appreciate this anime for whatever reason . first of all u shouldn’t have created this fucking website insulting this very anime and keep your bloody thoughts to yourself . there are much more people who love this anime for their char and music than those who hate this anime . didn;t your mummy taught you to keep your fucking bad thoughts to yourself and don’t make a fool of yourself out here? (go crying to your mummy , bitch).

  19. 19 Sigi

    Dear trollface,

I like it when I hear decent arguments why a show whould be sucky or a song. You don’t give any rather than just saying it, like it IS, though it’s just your opinion. You can’t say Cagayake girls IS their worst song only because you think so.

Also, yeah. You hate it that ‘real’ talent isn’t getting any attention. Shouldn’t you than just hate the voters instead of the things that DO win? Bashing is very very sad thing to do.

You are probably wanting to be a decent critic, (AVGN is good, nostalgic critic decent) but you are saying NOTHING were I can say: ‘oh, I thought so too’. For example, you could talk about how you find the characters.
I myself watched the show, liked it, but that doesn’t make me less open to critism. I can give a lot of critism about this show. MAking pun jokes with ‘crappy’ is just showing off immaturity.
