Yet another fruitful season of my favourite baseball anime has come to a conclusion. It has been a wonderfully entertaining 25 episodes. Unlike season 4 which was focused only on Goro’s minor league arc, we get to see more characters sharing a place in the limelight, such as the players in Team Japan.

One thing that I love about Major is the emotional bits and pieces that start flying towards you with second you witness the teamwork of Goro’s team in play. It was present in all of the first 3 seasons, but sadly, absent in season 4. Those were really stuff that could result in buckets of passionate manly tears.
Come season 5, whatever was lacking in season 4 is now present. As Goro’s playing for as a representative for his country, his country’s pride is at stake, and so is his promise for revenge again Gibson. With this pride and promise, the passion’s only natural. It’s just a different sort of passion from the kind which Goro possessed while he was in school.
The match against America, while not the most impressive, was still satisfying. To me, the match where Goro’s team was pitted against the elite Kaidou team will probably never be surpassed by any other match in the series.
Enough of all the ramblings, here’s a summary of why I enjoyed season 5:
- Characters from the past made appearances in this season. The nostalgic feeling of knowing that the teammates whom Goro fought alongside with have yet to be a distant memory is pretty nice.
- Toshiya’s past has finally been concluded. Before this season, all the anime told us was that Toshiya was dumped by his parents who left with his sister. Shining light on Toshiya’s past as a side story added more drama in this season.
- Goro finally gets to pitch in the same match as Gibson.

- Mayumura’s one of my favourite characters in the series, and he gets a fair share of action.
- America’s victory. Although it was already set ages ago in the manga, for a change, it’s refreshing to see Goro get owned since his showdown with Kaidou. At least he isn’t the typical almighty shonen character who wins every battle he fights. Anyway, who cares if America wins in the anime? They didn’t win the World Baseball Classic. Japan did.
- The final episode ends off with Kokoroe, the first season’s OP by Road of Major. That song has got to be the best song in the entire series, ever.
Speaking of music, this season has been cursed with nothing but horrible music. Unlike the past 4 seasons where I never skipped the OPs and EDs, I skipped them all after the first listen this season. What the heck happened to the choice of music for Major?
That aside, one thing that isn’t looking too positive is season 6. Unlike the past season where the end all the final episodes would contain an announcement for the next season, there was nothing this time round. It looks like it’s going to be a long wait for the next one.
Meanwhile, watch the Major movie if you’ve yet to do so. It’s really awesome, and there’s the passion that Goro possessed as a kid too.
On an ending note, I’ve gotten used to the broken bats. No longer do I go “WTF?!” each time it occurs.

i’m positive there’ll be a 6th season, it’s only a matter of when the announcement will come. the manga is still ongoing, and the anime ended with only about 6 volumes behind, so i’m speculating that it might take a year before they announce another season.
Did you watch the Major movie? It’s really good.
Anyway, Stay with Me is a pretty good ending song, porbably the best of the five seasons.
Yea I’ve watched the movie. The moment the raw was out, I was on it.
The ED wasn’t really my type of music, I guess.
I share your concerns about season 6… the fact that season 5 ended with the very first opening music of Major sounds a bit like a “farewell” to me…
Speaking of music, I was very disapponted in this season too. Opening was shitty, and the only average music (the ending) was replaced with an horrible one after a few episodes.
There should be a 6th season
they guys who are coordinating the anime have done a really good job with how they space out the seasons unlike the ones doing it for bleach and naruto
They should take like a year and a half off to begin the next season
so the manga can get much further aheador at least start the next season in the fall of 2010 instead of spring of 2010
hello guys..Im a fan of Major but I only watched season 1-3
did Goro play in major league?
hy i havent seen the movie where can i watch it?
You can watch it at
http://www.animecrazy.net/category/more-running-anime/major/
It’s called Major: The Ball of Friendship
You know guys i really love this kind of manga. The emotion of every character from S1 up to S5 and even the movie was caught my attention that’s why you can’t leave this stuff and asking “NEXT PLEASE!!!”.
I don’t care the OP or ED song is good or not but we hope to see again GORO’s JOURNEY battled on the field. We hope the season 6 will comes out … Thanks so much.
Yeah… I love this series ;D Can’t wait for the next season ^.^
It has to be the next one
They can’t end the series like that :p it’s like… they simply can’t
when you thing about the previous seasons
This season was really better then the previous one
P.S. And yes :p the music in this season was really anoying
Nah, there’s a huge chance of a sixth season. If you watch the scene after the ending (Which you probably all have) It shows a clip of the sixth season that’s in the anime. Hornets V.s. Seagulls, bottom of 7th inning no-hit no-run. After Goro throws his pitch, the narrator (*Goro’s voice actor) says “I made it too the Major that everyone praised when I was a kid. Watch me go on the mound to prove my power and skill. Dad! Everyone!” Even though it says “Owari (end)” It only means the end of this season, there’s also an announcement on the top. So the chances of season six is around 80%. Don’t give your hopes up. Bye.
P.S. I agree on the music >.> Kinda crappy. But I like the synching with the music. :PP
P.P.S. The ending with the music was really common with the other seasons too if I recall
I just discovered the anime. And I am really in love with it. I am wondering if there is a team that translates the manga scans. If you know one can you point me towards it ?
Thanks in advance
I really feel bad that the Japan team didnt win against the American Team… What a heart breaker for Goro’s team.. But overall its been a great series and hoping to have a sixth series in the near future…
hi guys i also love this anime eventhough the ending of season 5 is not good for me yet I hope that there will be a season 6 because this anime was very great and i love it very much
Asdssddfsf I know right. They should’ve at least kept The Loose Dogs or Road to Major. ;A; Their songs rock.
There won’t be season 6, Major ended with season 5, just take a look at the ending screen, (おわり) was written (w/c means end) instead of (つづく) to be continued. It is sad though to have a great series ending, but all good things has its end.
OMG!!!! I’ve waited for so long to watch the last 4 ep. I just couldn’t think about watching the last episodes of my favorite anime.
But yep I did it, and what a blast was that!!! =O
The emotion was great!!! Cried!!!
I really hope that there will be a season 6 even though for me there wont be, the end really looked like a farewell. =(
P.S. I agree on the music >.> Kinda crappy. But I like the synchronizing with the music.[2]
P.P.S. I liked the last ed.
GO GORO!!!! Major forever!!!
