To Japan I Will Return Again

Yes, I’m back in Singapore. I don’t know what to feel now. The 17 days spent in Japan went by just like that.

I’ve met a lot of people this trip, both Japanese and non-Japanese. Talking to strangers has never been my forte, but I actually did it. For example, while waiting in line for live performances, I picked up the courage to talk to the people around me.

I’ve come to the realisation that I actually like talking to people. Another thing that I’ve come to realise is that most of the people whom you want to talk to probably want to talk to you too, but just don’t know how to. All you have to do is to spark the conversation off.

While in Tokyo, I stayed at a hostel where I’ve met a guy from Belgium, another from South Korea, and a group of students who are in the 1-year exchange program with Waseda University. By talking to them, I’ve learned much about different countries. It’s all knowledge I would never ever gain no matter how much I study. That explains why I’ve not been updating even with internet connectivity. I was too busy enjoying myself every night, talking and drinking beer.

This may just be a filler post before I start writing about the stuff I did during the trip, but you should be able to tell how immensely enjoyable this trip was for me. The details are on Facebook, but I’ll port them over to this blog eventually.

I’ve always been asked this question “What do you love about Japan which makes you want to go back so many times?”. I couldn’t answer it before the trip, but I finally understand now.

It’s the people that I love.

I recently came back from a trip to Japan myself. Now that I’ve been back in California for a while, I definitely miss Japan’s greenery and natural beauty, cleanliness, and the people too. I’ve learned that I enjoy hanging out with Japanese people my age rather than Americans =P Oh, and of course I miss the anime stores like Animate and Gamers too, and the overall appreciation of animation that the country has.

I hope to return one day.

Yah, it’s good. Imagine if you just went to girl group concerts!

I think hostels are good places to meet all sort of people (travelers and backpackers)!!

Sounds like you had fun, double. Yup, talking to people you do not know can be really interesting, especially so if they come from other countries. The language barrier tends to be a problem, through.

lol @tj’s comment. Visit some place with lots of girls and hit on them!

I went to 3 male band live performances, and talked to 3 different girls at each one. LOL.

Most of the people I met either speak English or Japanese, so it’s no problem for me.

I will be happy to know about your adventures in Japan. :) I read Bangin’s blog and found out about yours through him.

There is something special about Japan, yes? I can feel that in Taiwan too (where I am currently studying).
