I turned 19 today.
I’m not the kind of person who goes around telling his friends, “Hey it’s my birthday *hint: Get me a present*”. It’s simply just not my style. Also, it’s a day just like any other, only that you happened to be born on that day, so I don’t buy the nonsense of special treatment on such a day. If my friends find out and wish me, that’s great. I don’t require any presents since I’ve never seen the need to receive any.
I got quite a few birthday greetings on Facebook, far more than in real life. Then, this mail came in via Mixi.

That’s the official sleepy.ab account. A few days back, I realised that they visited my account, for a reason that I have still no idea about. I know that Mixi does send mails to alert people when it’s a friend’s birthday, but considering that sleepy.ab has over 3000 people on their Mixi list, I was surprised that they bothered to send a greeting via private message. That’s pretty cool.
Anyway, they just released their Paratroop album today. I’ve already ordered my copy and it should be arriving in the next few days, along with BUMP’s new single.
There’s someone whom I was hoping would wish me, but it looks like the email’s never coming. Oh well.
I can’t wait to turn 20 so that I can legally buy alcohol in Japan.
I’m not sure whether to classify you under Scorpio or Sagittarius, but anyway, a happy belated birthday to you.
Nice to hear your music taste has progressed.
My best wishes for you!
Happy (belated) Birthday. Rei says she will cook for you.
Thanks, you guys!
TP > You listen to sleepy.ab too?
At the behest of a certain friend, I go and listen to other indie Japanese acts and/or musicians and artistes that do not necessarily have a huge following or recognition from both within the otakusphere and the J-music enthusiasts.
I stumbled upon sleepy.ab a while back, so I don’t have a good repertoire of their music. I can say that it’s very close to Britrock (hint: sleepy and lengthy vocals), but it’s distinctive from the usual Britrock melodrama.
happy belated! alcohol is really nothing much … So dont need to get too excited over it .
belated happy bday.
Do you like to drink alcohol that much? I don’t.
TP > They’re often compared to Radiohead, but I prefer sleepy.ab better. I’ve been listening to quite a fair bit of post rock too. We should have a discussion on this topic.
pp, samejima > I’m pretty ok with alcohol, and even though I’m of legal age to buy it in Singapore, I don’t. However, whenever I’m in Japan, I’m always in the mood to drink. The alcohol there tastes better and it’s cheaper too.
Happy belated birthday, Double!
Guess you’re like me – we just don’t feel the need to celebrate birthdays. Ahaha.
I still remember the time when you were still just a wee 17 year old lad ;_;
You can get Yumeno, he’s not 18 yet.
That is quite awesome!! Seems pretty lucky =) Maybe you’ll get a surprise birthday concert next year =P Congrats and happy birthday.
Thanks! Now, if only I could get a chance to watch them live…
