Winds of Change Blow - Sheesh Y’all, It’s More Than Just Anime

If you’ve noticed, I’ve changed the “catchphrase” for this blog. An e-cookie for anyone who knows where I ripped part of the phrase from.

More than 2 years ago, I started blogging on this site with the intention of building my very own word dump for whatever thoughts I had regarding my obsession at that point of time; Anime and the otaku subculture. It started off well, and at one of point of time, I had so much to write about that I was posting on a daily basis. Thinking back, I’m amazed at how I could come up with posts so easily.

Evangelion still rocks, though

However, it’s no longer the same. The flames of obsession were burning too rapidly, so rapidly that I suffered a burnout. I was thinking that I could possibly recover with time, but as time passed, my interest continued to wane. Then, in July 2009, I quit anime as I actually felt too tired of watching the episodes.

Thus, I’ve come to a decision that this site’s focus will change.

The purpose of this site was, and will still be my personal word dump for whatever I’m in love in. While I still do love Japan and various aspects of the culture (I supposed I could have, and still can be classified as a Japanophile), I no longer feel the passion I once had towards figurines or anime. Stuff like this just happens.

I intend to write about Japanese music, which I’ve been in love with for 3 years and counting. Actually, it’s been a while since this thought came to mind, but I held back as I was struggling to stick to whatever I started off. I understand that the target audience might change pretty drastically, since majority of those who indulge in the otaku subculture have never gone along too well with non-anime, not-so-mainstream Japanese music.

This decision might cause me to lose much of my reader population, but when it comes to blogging, it really boils down to what you would really like to write on. Besides Japanese music, I’ll continue writing on stuff related to Japan since my life pretty much orbits around it, and I’ll still drop in some anime-related posts from time to time.

As for the name, I’m keeping it. FMP is still awesome, and so is the joke behind this blog’s name.

Anyway, I’m curious, but how many of you will still read on with this change in focus?

I would. I’m looking forward to seeing what other artists you have to recommend.RADWIMPS’s Altocolony no Teiri really started to grow on me after listening to it a few times.

I wish my love for anime and manga will burnout; it’s destroying my education.
Anyway thanks to you, I got introducted to tacica and they are now one of my favourites. So I’m definitely going to follow what you’re blogging.

Hey, since you’re into Japanese music scene, you can follow either zzeroparticle’s Anime Instrumentality or Zac Bentz’s A-Z of J-Music. Both are following the J-music scene; the former focuses more on anime-related music, the latter is where the indie J-music scene is.

For me, any change is a good change; in this case, your blog has now more coherence in theme/niche, now that you are focusing on music. I think that you might gain more audience instead, because everyone will now look into your blog for source of ideas for fresh music.

TP > I’ve been reading the 2nd link and it’s pretty good, but I feel that everything that he writes on seems to be nothing but praises. It’s too neutral without any stance.

SparkedPlugged and J-Rock Explosion are some pretty good sites too.

Sure, why not? I have every intention of venturing outside anime music, although I’ve not actually got around it since I don’t exactly know where to start.

Shin > If you happen to have the same taste in music as me, you’re probably in luck.

Just what I need, more music recommendations. Keep it up. :)
