Major Season 4 Ends

With a broken bat deciding the match. When I first saw how Goro’s pitch broke the bat, the first thing that came to my mind was the bat’s material. Why wood, not aluminum? This prompted me to do some reading up, and it turned out that aluminum bats aren’t allowed in professional leagues. New knowledge gained because of anime. Hurray!

This Has Got To Be The Most Stylish Evangelion Boxset Ever

NTV’s releasing a new Evangelion boxset with what I think is by far the coolest design ever. Now that’s what I call top quality packaging.

The entire boxset contains all 26 episodes of the entire TV series, a BGM collection consisting of 22 tracks,「EVANGELION:DEATH(TRUE)2」, and NEON GENESIS EVANGELION 01 TEST-TYPE 「残酷な天使のテーゼ」, an exclusively edited full size opening of 残酷な天使のテーゼ.

Confess Your Typical Shonen Secrets!!!

As long as you’ve been an experienced anime watcher and fan, you’ve ought to know how other veteran fans shun, bash and flame typical Shonen series. It just ain’t cool watching stereotyped Shonen as compared to say, Seinen.

I say that’s bullshit. In this post, let’s let it all out and share what typical Shonen series we enjoy, be it anime or manga. No point cooping it all up instead to prevent others to look upon you as a Shonen Freak. Spill it!

I’ll start the ball rolling with some of my own confessions.

Preferences of Anime : A Reflection or Refraction of Real Life?

Many people use anime as a form of escapism from the cold, harsh real world. Therefore, their preferences of the 2D world tend to be as unrelated to the real life as possible. The more unbelievable stuff that will never ever happen in the real world, the better. This is basically a refraction of real life, as the wavelengths between the 2 worlds differ, separated by heaven and earth.

Take Zero no Tsukaima for example, since I’ve just completed both seasons a couple of days ago. A tsundere mage as the main lead, excessive fanservice, a harem, an insane 1 vs 70000 battle and many more illogical. The reason why people enjoy the series is because none of this ever occurs in the real world. Hence, when watching such a show, it literally transports them into a totally brand new fantasy world, distant from the unfeeling world that one lives in.

This Summer’s Going To Be A Drought For Me

Damn, the season I hate most in terms of anime and weather is here. I’m living in a freaking oven everyday, so the weather portion doesn’t matter. On the other hand, the anime portion does matter, a lot.

I’m going to be lazy and only list the series that I’ll probably pick up. The keyword here is probably.

Stop Complaining And Watch More Anime

Damn, I wasted 30 minutes of my life watching that fansub bashing video on Youtube, and only one point got through. It was regarding fansub groups plastering their huge names in the OPs and EDs. That is a dishonorable act.

However, I don’t see what else is wrong. The video quoted a few professional translators, and those quotes are logical and true, only for professionals. I have a question. Are fansub groups able to release official licensed copies of their subs on DVD to be sold in store?

Golgo 13 Reminds Me Of The Battle Royale Movie

Not the whole series, but just episode 7. The 20 odd minutes revolve around some loser violinist who hires Golgo13 not to kill his rival, but instead, to snipe the G string of his violin so as to embarrass him during his solo. And to think he’s paying big bucks for such a act. What a buffoon.

Anyway, the G string was sniped because the tune played was Air on the G String. I’m totally not knowledgeable regarding anything related to classical music, and have totally zero musical background. Still, I think understand the bare basics of appreciate a good piece of music.

The Message I Think Toshokan Sensou Is Trying To Convey

I’m not going to go on about the really deep messages such as media censorship, freedom of speech, so on and so forth. Instead, here’s something I don’t think any other fellow anime blogger has mentioned.

The white-collared workers in the library filing books are the same blue-collared workers out there fighting wars with their rifles. What is the meaning of this?
