While the change of the event’s venue for this year’s EOY from Singapore Expo to the National Library has certainly made improved the accessibility, it compressed the event area. It’s common for cosplay events to be packed with many cosplayers and even more photographers, but this time round, it felt unbearably packed. There were times when I wanted to snap a shot, but due to the cramped area around the cosplayer, even waiting behind the wall of photographers for a turn to snap a shot would be out of the point.

It’s past mid-November, which means that it’s time for AFA again. Bah, why do I even have to say this. Most people who are reading this would have been there.
I may not be a fan of K-ON, but this Japanese Mio’s cute
I didn’t manage to attend AAC ‘09 which was held on 20th November as I had school. School sucks. It was a real pity that I missed out on it as I heard that it was a rather enriching experience. You certainly couldn’t expect less from an industry talk. You can find out more about the event from Darkmirage’s coverage.
My event posts have often been a huge messy ramble, and I don’t really like that. Hence, I shall take up a neater, categorised approach towards this AFA ‘09 post.
It’s been almost 2 weeks since STGCC. I’ve got everything ready to post about it; The few photos and the content I want to write all in point form in my mind. Yet, I simply lost the motivation to write anything. I’m not sure if it’s just laziness or just a burnout. Like LianYL’s burnout. Do the man a favour and take a look at the stuff he’s trying to clear.
Alright, back to the event. STGCC 2009 has been the event which I spent the shortest time at. Usually, when I head to such events related to cosplay and other aspects of geek/otaku culture, I’d be there pretty early an stay till closing time, or at least near to it.

They don’t bother if you have a DSLR now, you need to have epic gear if you want those in costume to look in your way
With the brief time spent at STGCC 2009 on Saturday, I only have a couple of things to say.

Somehow, I wasn’t particularly feeling any emotions of excitement for this year’s event. The following are some of the plausible reasons as to why:
- Dragon Quest IX launched on Saturday. DQ IX grinding > Cosplay event
- I’ve grown up and/or have gotten lazy to drag my arse to such events
There might be more, but I guess these factors didn’t deter me from Cosfest, at least for this year. There wasn’t anything that was impressive this year, but here are some of the cosplays that caught a bit of my interest.

I missed last year’s SOY, so I figured I might as well go down this year to check it out, and at the same time, complete my transactions with those who expressed interest in my figurines and coffee. Having everything in a single venue sure was convenient.
I present to you, the worst cosplay photos I have ever taken with a DSLR. The venue was outdoors, and even with the ample sunlight, my photos still look like crap. Geez, I think I should find myself a new hobby that doesn’t involve any form of sophisticated technology. Like knitting.
