Anime, Otakism and the Rantings And Ravings of Japanese Popular Culture
After riding trains for almost 8 hours, I’ve finally made it from the south to Tokyo. The first thing I did after checking into the hostel was to head down to Akihabara for dinner and a little shopping. I had dinner, and literally did a little shopping.
Who cares about the Kentucky statue dressed up as a meido, or some lameass woman spread her privates wide for public photography? Not when some crazy ass bugger who’s tired of life decides to go on a killing spree in Akihabara. Now, that’s totally screwed up.
The Japanese Otakus have once again proven that they are the Spartans of the consumer world.
On our last day in Japan, we headed to Akihabara for a last stroll before departing for the airport. With no purchasing intention of any sort, we combed the streets armed with our cameras. All the photos I took aren’t of any importance, since you’ve probably seen various photos of the otaku areas in Akihabara all over the interwebs.

Just in case you were wondering, I’m back in Singapore. In fact, I came back almost 10 hours ago at around 2am. The first thing I said when I stepped out was “Damn, why the hell is it so hot?!”. I need natural aircon, LOL.
Anyway, the weather aside, here’s my leftover ammunition from Japan.

This may not be my first trip to Japan, but this is the first time that I had spent so much.
In the past, I used to have half the amount I bring remaining. This time, I had to withdraw some money from the ATM. To think I said I would cut down on my spendings this trip. What a liar I am.
As expected, a visit was once again paid to the holy otaku mecca. One can never get too much of Akiba. This time, however, anime shops were not so much of the day’s focus. Sure, we went to shops such as Animate, Gamers and the like, but the interest that day was the electronics shops. After all, Akiba isn’t named Electric Town for nothing.

Here’s the second day from the land of the rising sun (and bishoujos).
I apologise for my absence for the past few days. I’ve been really busy with the remaining days of the homestay and packing. Now that I’m free from all the stuff from the past few days, it’s time to do some serious posting. Still, I’m lazy, so intensive photo posting it shall be. Photos of the place of every living, breathing otaku’s dream.
Everyone has a first time, and the first time always feels the greatest, especially if you are doing something you have a passion for.
For me, this was my first scaled figurine.
