I Love It When Everyone In The Cast Dies

And new characters get introduced to fill their spots.

In Ga-Rei Zero, the entire cast that was standing in the spotlight of the plot gets wiped out in the last few moments of the first episode. I’m predicting that the men in black featured in episode 2 won’t last much longer either. Man, the guy with the dual drills is quite awesome, so it’ll be a pity to see him go.

It was nice knowing you guys

Kei-chan’s Back!

He did make a half body appearance in chapter 279, but not a single word was spoken. Hence, 280 should be the official chapter in which Kei finally revives.

High School Of The Dead!!! SAEKO!!!

Somehow, I stumbled upon High School Of The Dead, and I was glad that I did. I’ve always been looking for manga or anime that has a storyline flowing along the lines of the zombie outbreak ever since I became a fan of zombie flicks a couple of years ago, but I never seemed to be able to find any. Somehow, High School Of The Dead slipped under my radar until a couple of days ago, when I read it by sheer random luck.

This Is What Happens When You Read Manga Or Watch Anime In Class

For those of you who are still in school, I don’t know how your classes work but for me, I use my laptop for almost all, if not all my classes. Who needs textbooks when the resources are uploaded online and there’s Google? Anyway, that’s not the point here.

Before I begin on some of the reactions my classmates have, I’ll let you have some background knowledge about my class. I’m in an IT-related course and there are a total of 21 students, 19 guys and 2 girls. The balance totally sucks and I have to go through another 2 more years of this. Out of the 19 guys, there are only 1 or 2 besides me who are higher-leveled appreciators of Japanese animation artforms. The rest either only watch stuff such as Bleach and DGrayMan, or think that Bleach is Hentai and Naruto is buttsecks. The girls don’t watch anime, I think.

Now that you know what the hell’s going on in my class, let’s begin with some of the reactions.

One Thing which I Admire about Gantz

I dropped the Gantz manga series quite some time ago, but it was only a few days ago when I picked it up from where I last stopped. I think it was the after the Temple arc, where everyone except Kurono died. I realised how stupid I was to have dropped such a great manga series. The storyline’s pretty solid. And there’s one thing I like about Gantz.

The characters die. Yes. I am no sadist, but I’m actually happy that the characters, even Kurono (main character), died. Why?

The answer is simple. Characters dying in a gory manga with such intense violence adds on to the realism. Also, deaths which have some form of meaning add bonus points to the series too. There are many great anime/manga series, but those great ones which have characters dying are uncommon.

Many anime/manga series do not easily kill of characters for two reason. They are either shonen genre, and killing characters would be as good as indirectly teaching the kids that “Killing is good”. Or, they are afraid to lose viewers/readers once they kill off a character. Continue reading ‘One Thing which I Admire about Gantz’
