Why Japanese Lives Rock

During my trip, I went for 3 live band performances, 2 of which were quite out of the way for me. It was all totally worth it, both the money and the time. The experience is definitely what I can never get in Singapore, and I’ll explain why shortly.

My very first experience was in Kyoto, where つばき’s live was held in Kyoto Mojo. The venue was really small, barely fitting 200 people, which meant that you could feel every single drum beat and note on the bass throughout your entire body. Also, it meant that you’d be struggling to get your ears back to normal after the event.

Japan Trip 2009: Kagoshima

Going to Kagoshima was on impulse. I didn’t have any plans to head there, but I had a day with totally nothing to do. It was my second time in Kyuushuu. Kumamoto had not many other places of interest left to offer, I would be heading to Fukuoka later on, and heading to Oita would just make me feel depressed. The only other nearest place left was Kagoshima.

A 2-Day Japanese Student Exchange Programme

Actually, I wouldn’t call it an exchange programme, since the Japanese students were having it with another school instead of mine. However, I had 3 friends who came over, and  they asked me to join them during their free time. I was more than glad to hang out with them, despite the strict timings they were given. All that rushing around really sucked, but there’s nothing much that can be done since they were with their school. That’s the reason why I would rather go over to Japan on a personal visit, as opposed to going with my school.

Japan Trip 2009: Kumamoto

I’ve been back for nearly 3 weeks, and yet, not a single proper post about my trip has been up. Anyway, here’s the start of the Japan Trip 2009 series of posts. I hope I don’t slack off.

Really long shopping street

My first week in Kyuushuu was rather slow paced. I was mostly hanging out with friends, and usually, Japanese people don’t really having their picture taken. On days that I hung out with my friends, I brought the camera along only for a few scenery shots. Sometimes, the camera was never taken out of my bag at all. As you should be able to infer, I don’t have too many pictures.

The following are the things that I did in Kumamoto:

To Japan I Will Return Again

Yes, I’m back in Singapore. I don’t know what to feel now. The 17 days spent in Japan went by just like that.

I’ve met a lot of people this trip, both Japanese and non-Japanese. Talking to strangers has never been my forte, but I actually did it. For example, while waiting in line for live performances, I picked up the courage to talk to the people around me.
