Going to Kagoshima was on impulse. I didn’t have any plans to head there, but I had a day with totally nothing to do. It was my second time in Kyuushuu. Kumamoto had not many other places of interest left to offer, I would be heading to Fukuoka later on, and heading to Oita would just make me feel depressed. The only other nearest place left was Kagoshima.

I can’t be arsed to write any long posts of my trip while I’m still here, so I’ll just post some photos and let them do the talking. Those of you who have me on Facebook would already know what I have been doing.

I love midnight flights as I can touch down early in the morning and still have the whole day ahead. At the same time, I hate them because I only get 2-3 hours of sleep. This flight was pretty awesome though, since they kept stuffing me with food.

Just before landing
After arriving at Fukuoka Airport, I made my way down to Kumamoto, but not before missing a station because I slept past it. There I met a friend from a previous exchange programme. Today was basically going on a date with a really cute girl, except that I can’t get her to be my girlfriend because she’s already someone’s. ORZ

My final paper for the semester ended yesterday, and I’ll be flying off soon to Fukuoka like I did last year, in a couple of hours. My flight’s at 1am, so I’ll be arriving at the airport at around 8am.

No, the guitar’s not coming along
What you see above is my baggage for 17 days. That’s right, more than 2 weeks. Half of the roller luggage is filled with stuff that I’ll be giving to some of the people I’ll meet, so I really don’t have much with me. I would bring more since the luggage weight restriction for Business Class is much more lenient, but travelling alone with too much to carry is a killer.
My objectives of this trip are:
- Meet up with friends
Most of my friends reside in Kyuushuu, so I’ll be doing most of the meeting up during my first week. I’ll be staying over at a friend’s house in Kumamoto, so I’m not sure if I’ll be updating logs of my trip on a regular basis until 12th September, when I’ll be in Tokyo.

Wow, I totally forgot about this post, and more than 2 months later, it’s still in my drafts folder. Browsing through the photos I took in September reminded me that I wanted to write about this while I was still in Japan, but I just didn’t have to time to do so. That, and the unstable network I was using while I was at my friend’s house.
This is by no means a complete list of places selling anime stuff, but rather, the places I’ve spotted while wandering around the city area of Fukuoka over 2 days. “Why only these few places?”, you might ask. Well, I took my own sweet time strolling around, take breaks whenever I pleased. I even took a break at the beach area more almost half an hour.
This Mandarake branch was located in Tenjin. As you can see, it had an entire building to itself.
